Lilian Darmono, Art Director

With 15 years of experience in the creative industry, Lilian Darmono has art directed for a dream client list including Disney, Coca-Cola, American Express, Nabisco and Unilever among others. Her latest project, Buddy: Tech Detective, for Amazon Studios recently premiered on Amazon Prime. Buddy: Tech Detective is an exciting, interactive whodunit for pre-school aged children that follows super-sleuth Buddy, his incredibly organized best friend Trudy, and their funny furry ferret Ferdo. The viewer helps choose the technologies for Buddy and his team to gather evidence, follow cues, and crack the case. In addition to helping others tell their stories, Lilian recently published the first of her own, Little Hedgie and The Springtime, a picture book for 3 to 6 year olds about an adorably allergic hedgehog who loves flowers. We asked Lilian to fill out our Hello Recess Q&A.

We also asked Lilian to illustrate what her favorite toy would say about her for Hello Recess. Turns out her favorite fire truck would give her some tips on home cleaning, especially dusting.

"As a child I wanted to be a firefighter. I'm obsessed with fire trucks, of all shapes, sizes and models. I collect tin toys now, the more colorful and old fashioned the better. But I never play with them. They just sit on shelves looking pretty. My favorite toy is my first tin fire truck my husband gave me in 2004. I've taken it with me from place to place wherever we move. It sits on a high shelf in my bedroom where I can always see it. These days it fights dust bunnies more often than fighting fires." - by Lilian Darmono for Hello Recess
