“Secret Garden” by Johanna Basford

Coloring books are an important toy for little ones because of their tactile and interactive nature. They can also be a good learning tool for adults – a way for grown ups to unplug and relieve stress. In the Spring of 2013, Johanna Basford released the first coloring book created for adults, “Secret Garden”. Since then, the 96-page collection of elaborate black-and-white ink drawings of flowers, leaves, trees and birds, has become a global sensation selling over 1.4 million copies in 22 languages and sitting on the top of Amazon’s best seller list.

Although “Secret Garden” was the first of its kind, its success has launched a new category. Adult coloring books has become its own niche with a wave of new entrants from major publishers. Ms. Basford has already released a sequel to “Secret Garden” called “Enchanted Forest” and we are eagerly waiting for her third book which we hear will be ocean themed based on fan feedback.
